HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Orb came from well off the pace to beat heavily favored Violence on Saturday and win the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes, a major Kentucky Derby prep race for 3-year-olds.

Ridden by John Velazquez and trained by Shug McGaughey, Orb finished the mile-and-a-sixteenth in 1 minute, 42.24 seconds on a fast track at Gulfstream Park. Orb, now a winner of three straight races, returned $12.80 for the win.

The previously unbeaten Violence was second, and Speak Logistics finished third.

It was the third straight time Orb came from way back in the pack to win, and the win quickly makes him a strong contender for the Kentucky Derby.
