Robert Morris crushes Fairleigh Dickinson 89-46

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — Velton Jones scored 20 points and Robert Morris erupted for a huge second-half run in an 89-46 thrashing of Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday night in Northeast Conference play.

The conference-leading Colonials (20-9, 12-4), leading 44-25 at halftime, more than doubled the score in the second half.

Robert Morris exploded for a 40-12 run to lead 84-37 with 5:52 left. It ended with one of Jones’ four 3-pointers.

Fairleigh Dickinson (7-22, 2-14) lost its 13th straight game. The Knights were no match for Jones and his teammates. The Colonials’ Mike McFadden scored 15 points. Russell Johnson recorded a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double and Karvel Anderson scored 10.

Kyle Pearson came off the FDU bench to score 14 points. Melquan Bolding added 12.

The Knights shot 15 of 52 (28.8 percent) from the field, 3 of 18 on treys. Robert Morris shot 43.8 percent (32 of 73), made 11 3-pointers and out-rebounded FDU 54-24.
