Southern Illinois beats Miami (Ohio) in OT 74-68

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Jeff Early had 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds and Southern Illinois won its BracketBuster game by beating Miami (Ohio) in overtime Saturday 74-68.

Down 56-54 and the clock winding down, Early hit a jumper with 1 second left to tie it at the end of regulation and send the two teams to overtime. He added a 3-pointer with 3:43 remaining in overtime to give Southern Illinois (12-16) a 59-58 lead and the Salukis never trailed again.

Desmar Jackson added 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Salukis, which shot 44.3 percent from the field including nine 3-pointers and scored 24 points off 17 Miami (Ohio) turnovers.

Reggie Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Redhawks (8-17) and Allen Roberts chipped in with 14.
