Letter: No more tax hikes

I couldn’t believe the Feb. 14 news brief “Washington mayors call for gas tax hike.” Forty mayors, including Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt, sent a letter to Gov. Jay Inslee and legislative leaders to approve an 8-cents-per-gallon gas tax and an increase in motor vehicle excise taxes.

Leavitt says $3 billion is needed to maintain roadways and bridges. Washington already has one of the highest gas taxes in the nation.

Where does the money go from lottery and liquor sales?

Citizens of Washington state can no longer afford higher gas prices and license fees.
