Letter: Special interests drain budget
Sunday, February 24, 2013
Pearson Air Museum supporters have got to face the facts.
It is OK to slash and burn teachers, jobless benefits, food for the poor, but heaven forbid they cut the museum where the "social events" are held. Let's get real. You want the cuts in Congress unless it touches you and your special interests. The feds are going to save money any way they can.
Perhaps seeing through your rose-colored glasses, you can admit that feeding hungry people and creating jobs may override a venue for social events. And maybe Fort Vancouver and the feds can maintain the historical significance that takes historical precedence in the federal budget priorities.
