INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Fierce Five member Kyla Ross’ return to competition is on hold after a bruised heel forced the Olympic gold medalist to withdraw from this weekend’s American Cup.

Ross had to cut back on her training because of the injury, which she’s been nursing for several weeks. Though her heel is getting better, USA Gymnastics says Ross isn’t ready to compete in all four events Saturday. The American Cup, an international World Cup event, features all-around competitions for the men and the women.

Ross still plans to attend the meet at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., and could do an exhibition routine on balance beam.

The Americans will now be represented by 2011 U.S. junior champ Katelyn Ohashi and Simone Biles. This will be Biles’ international debut.
