Letter: Yellow tab identifies disabled plate

The Columbian
Published: February 25, 2013, 4:00pm

I am a disabled veteran and recently obtained my new veteran’s license plates. The Department of Licensing gave me my plate and a yellow sticker tab to place next to the expiration tab. This yellow tab designates my handicap status. I questioned it, but was told it replaces the plates with the stamped wheelchair on it. The disabled parking tab is used with special design plates or personalized plates and a placard is unnecessary.

I believe this change is not widely known as I received a nasty note on my windshield questioning my status.
