SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Former NBA star Dennis Rodman is touring North Korea’s monuments.

State TV on Thursday showed Rodman getting a look at towers and buildings in central Pyongyang as a guide told him about late North Korean founder Kim Il Sung.

North Korea’s official news agency said the flamboyant star known as “The Worm” also visited a palace where Kim and his son Kim Jong Il lie in state, and said he paid “high tribute.”

Rodman is joining three members of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team in a news show on North Korea that will air on HBO later this year.

The Korean Central News Agency said the American athletes joined North Korean teens for basketball training.

Rodman tweeted from Pyongyang that he’s hoping to meet current North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
