Esther Short — A handful of spiritual-minded Clark County residents gathered around the county courthouse's flag pole Feb. 16, speaking to God as part of the 40 Days of Prayer for Clark County campaign. The idea for the event came in 2012, when more than 3,000 residents followed a national 40-day prayer guide, "Seek God for the City." Christian congregations, led by Clark County Prayer Connect, were inspired, and teamed to create a booklet of local prayer guidelines for churches and individuals. A Feb. 13 prayer evening kicked off the first day of 40 Days of Prayer, in which participants asked God to bless the county's elected leaders, its community and its economy. The campaign wraps up March 24.
