Saint Mary’s blows out Pepperdine for 87-48 win

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Matthew Dellavedova scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Saint Mary’s to its 13th win in 14 games, 87-48 over Pepperdine on Wednesday night.

Dellavedova now has 1,871 career points, three behind Daniel Kickert for the Saint Mary’s record.

Stephen Holt added 13 points and Brad Waldow 11 for the Gaels (25-5, 13-2 West Coast), who burnished their NCAA tournament credentials with another impressive victory. Saint Mary’s shot 52 percent from the floor, was 9 of 17 from 3-point range and outrebounded Pepperdine 47-30.

Stacy Davis led the Waves (12-16, 4-11) with 12 points, and Jordan Baker scored 11. Pepperdine shot a season-low 24.5 percent and made just 13 field goals.

Saint Mary’s never trailed, leading 36-19 at halftime and by as many as 38 in the second half. The Gaels have won their last 13 meetings with Pepperdine, although the Waves still lead the all-time series 68-60.
