McNeese State rallies to defeat Oral Roberts 56-54

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Dontae Cannon scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half as McNeese State rallied late in the second half to beat Oral Roberts 56-54 in a Southland Conference game Thursday night.

Oral Roberts led 47-36 with 8:03 remaining, but a jumper by Cannon started a 20-7 run by the Cowboys (12-14, 6-9) over the final 6:54.

With the game tied 54-54, Cannon hit two free throws with 16 seconds to play and Brandon Regis knocked away a pass by the Golden Eagles (17-12, 12-4) with 2.1 seconds left.

The victory was the third straight in conference play for the Cowboys.

McNeese hit 54.2 percent (13 of 24) from the field in the second half after making 37.9 percent (11 of 29) in the first.

Shawn Glover scored 18 points and Warren Niles 16 for Oral Roberts, and Damen Bell-Holter had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
