Murray State beats UT-Martin 73-62

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Isaiah Canaan scored a game-high 18 points to lead Murray State past Tennessee-Martin 73-62 Thursday night in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup.

Stacy Wilson added 16 points, Jeffery Moss had 14, and Ed Daniels chipped in with 9 points and 11 rebounds to help Murray State (10-3, 1-0) win its conference opener.

Morehead State shot 48 percent (12 for 25) in the first half, and held Tennessee-Martin to just 28 percent (7 for 25) in the period.

Wilson scored 14 points in the half as Murray State took a 33-19 lead into halftime.

Even though Tennessee-Martin (3-12, 0-3) shot 50 percent in the second half, the Racers led by as many as 24 points and shot a better 54.2 percent (13 for 24) for the period.

Murray State outscored Tennessee-Martin 8-0 on fast-break points.

Mike Liabo led the Skyhawks with 12 points.
