Speed limit reduced on state Highway 501
Friday, January 4, 2013
RIDEGFIELD — A loosened guardrail has prompted the Washington State Department of Transportation to reduce the speed limit on a section of state Highway 501 outside Ridgefield. The change took effect today.
The speed limit between North Reiman Road and North Smythe Road (milepost 18.0 to 18.2) has been reduced from 40 mph to 25 mph in both directions. The move is intended to ensure driver safety in a section of roadway where saturated soils have loosened the guardrail along the eastbound lane, according to WSDOT.
The speed reduction will remain in effect until crews complete permanent repairs early this year, according to WSDOT.
