A commercial truck driver suffered minor injuries after he was stabbed by an unidentified man early this morning while stopped at a viewpoint parking area on Interstate 84 in the Columbia River Gorge.

The driver, Edwin J. Jones, 39, of Plymouth, Neb., was approached by two men in a parking area east of Corbett, Ore., just after midnight, according to Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings

One of the two suspects pulled out a knife and assaulted the truck driver, causing minor wounds to his hand, lower arm and stomach, Hastings said.

That suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s, five-5 feet 10 inches tall, with a skinny build and light facial chin hair, and wearing a black beanie, grayish-black hooded sweatshirt and dark cargo pants.

The other suspect is described as a Hispanic or Indian male, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a heavy build.

Jones sustained minor injuries and was taken to Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center, where he received several stitches for his wounds before being released, Hastings said.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Oregon State Police dispatch at 800-452-7888.
