Cole scores 22, Hartford overtakes Boston U 77-74

BOSTON (AP) — Wes Cole scored 22 points and Hartford rallied in the second half for a 77-74 America East Conference victory over Boston University on Saturday.

Cole made six 3-pointers in 10 attempts for the Hawks (9-6, 2-0), including one to start an 8-0 run that produced a 57-57 tie with 9:31 remaining.

Hartford took the lead for good on Mark Nwakamma’s three-point play with 2:52 left. Nate Sikma’s 3-pointer made it 71-65 with 1:26 to play.

Maurice Watson Jr. and D.J. Irving hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Terriers (6-9, 0-2) a 32-26 first-half lead, and they were up 38-32 at halftime.

Sikma finished with 19 points for the Hawks and Nwakamma had 13.

Irving had 17 points, six steals and six assists for Boston University and the junior moved into the top 10 on the Terriers’ career assists list with 335. John Papale had 14 points and Watson 13.
