Stony Brook takes down New Hampshire 65-49

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Jameel Warney scored 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field to lead Stony Brook to a 65-49 victory over New Hampshire in an America East Conference game on Saturday.

Tommy Brenton pulled down 12 rebounds and had five points and five assists, and Anthony Jackson, Carson Puriefoy and Marcus Rouse scored nine points apiece for the Seawolves (10-4, 1-0). Stony Brook’s bench outscored New Hampshire’s 27-6.

The Seahawks have won 11 consecutive conference games at home.

Chandler Rhoads led the Wildcats (4-10, 0-2) with 14 points and seven rebounds, and Patrick Konan scored 11 points. It was New Hampshire’s fifth consecutive loss, including eight in a row away from home.

Stony Brook shot 42.3 percent from the field (22 of 52) to New Hampshire’s 30.8 percent (16 of 52), and the Wildcats were on the wrong side of the turnover ledger 13-8.
