Letter: Fear merchants are out of control

The Columbian
Published: January 7, 2013, 4:00pm

Amazing, yet again, all the focus is on the symptom (guns). The real disease is the humongous amount of fear-mongering done by the right wing via television, radio, bloggers.

They pump out hours of hate and fear, and those who listen to it are turned into paranoid right-wing activists.

It is time for these people who drum up fear to be held accountable for what they are saying. Quit hiding behind the First Amendment and causing others to kill our children. The constant fear-mongering combined with pressures from life is overloading some to commit acts of violence.

Want to stop the killings? Kill the disease of fear-mongering that is based on lies. Some of these would be called traitorous by the Founding Fathers.
