PORTLAND (AP) — A sheriff’s spokesman says a man in pickup truck is accused of spritzing bear repellent toward a group of bicyclists during a parking lot argument in the Portland area. Multnomah County sheriff’s Lt. Steve Alexander says the man encountered the cyclists Sunday outside a Cracker Barrel store on Sauvie Island.
Alexander says the man who took the brunt of the spray told deputies the pickup driver bumped him with his truck as he was leaving. The spokesman says the driver returned to the parking lot with a deputy who was headed to the scene.
The Oregonian reports that 68-year-old Kenneth Lyle Tester pleaded not guilty Monday in Circuit Court to unlawful use of Mace and reckless endangerment.
