Three people remain hospitalized at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center from injuries they suffered in a New Year’s Eve head-on collision.

Peter Swartz, 32, of Battle Ground was a passenger in a car driven by his wife Jennifer Swartz, 33, on Dec. 31. Their car, a 1999 Chevy Tahoe was driving north on Highway 503 when a Nissan Pathfinder heading south crossed the center line and collided with the Tahoe.

Jennifer Swartz was killed in the crash.

The Pathfinder’s driver, Katrina Tikka, 17, of Amboy and one of the vehicle’s passengers, Wendi Hallstrom, 17, of Yacolt also remain in the hospital. They are both listed in satisfactory condition. Passenger Megan Tikka, 16, of Amboy was treated and released.

The family of Peter and Jennifer Swartz, who have three children, have set up a benefit fund at Riverview Community Bank for donations. The account is named Susan Stevens for the benefit of the Swartz family.
