The driver of a tractor-semitrailer tipped the rig onto its side Tuesday evening trying to avoid a load of hay that was spilled on state Highway 14 at Northwest Alpine Lane in Camas.

At 5:45 p.m., a pickup hauling a trailer of hay was heading westbound on Highway 14 when it lost its load, spilling 50 to 80 bales on the roadway, said Trooper Will Finn, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol. Traffic darted to the right shoulder to avoid the hay, including the semi-truck. The truck went too far to the right and tipped onto its side into an embankment, Finn said.

No one was hurt in the incident, but the right lane was blocked until about 9 p.m.

Names of those involved were not available at The Columbian’s press time.
