FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) — Trey Freeman led five Campbell players in double figures with 19 points to go along with a career-high 10 assists as it pulled away late to beat Longwood 83-73 Wednesday night in a Big South Conference matchup.
Marvelle Harris and Darius Leonard added 15 points and seven rebounds apiece, Darian Hooker scored 14 points off the bench, and Reco McCarter chipped in with 10 points to help Campbell (7-9, 2-0) win its fourth straight game.
At 32-all at halftime, Campbell opened the second half on a 24-13 run capped by Hooker’s 3-pointer that made it 56-45 with 11:28 remaining.
Longwood cut the deficit to one, 67-66, on Michael Kessen’s tip-in with 3:52 left to play, but the Fighting Camels would close out the Lancers with a 16-7 run.
