Flu shots recommended as local cases increase
Wednesday, January 9, 2013
A surge in flu cases has prompted Clark County to push for more vaccinations.
The past few weeks have seen a rise in flu cases well above the average from previous years, according to Alan Melnick, Clark County health officer.
"Sparing yourself from flu's unpleasant and sometimes severe symptoms is well worth contacting your doctor or pharmacy for a shot" he said.
The county recommends that everyone older than 6 months of age receive a flu shot, especially the elderly, pregnant women and children younger than 5.
