Oregon Air National Guard wing signs 50-year lease at PDX

The Oregon Air National Guard's 142nd Fighter Wing has signed a 50-year lease with the Port of Portland to operate at Portland International Airport.
The142nd Fighter Wing protects the airspace and coastal waters stretching from Northern California to the Canadian border.
The Portland Air National Guard Base generates more than $44 million in annual salaries to Guard members who live in Oregon and Washington, and employs approximately 1,500 people.
Under the agreement, the land given to the Air Base will decrease from 240 to 195 acres over the next 20 years to make room for commercial aviation activities. The military also will pay $368,000 annually for use of taxiways and runways.
