Stephen F. Austin defeats Central Arkansas 77-69

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Taylor Smith scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Stephen F. Austin over Central Arkansas 77-69 Thursday night.

Smith was 11 of 12 from the field in his double-double performance and led five Lumberjacks in double figures.

Jacob Parker scored 15 points, and Hal Bateman had 13 points and a team-high seven assists. Antonio Bostic and Desmond Haymon scored 10 apiece for the Lumberjacks (13-1, 4-0 Southland), who have won eight consecutive games.

Stephen F. Austin led 38-31 at halftime and never trailed in the game. The Lumberjacks shot 55.8 percent from the field for the game and had 42 rebounds. The Bears shot 46.6 percent and had 28 rebounds.

LaQuentin Miles led Central Arkansas with 21 points. DeShone McClure added 10. Miles and Daouda Berete had five rebounds apiece.

Central Arkansas (5-8, 0-3) has lost three consecutive games.
