Columbia River earns narrow win at Winterfest

Chieftain gymnasts top Heritage by one-tenth of point

Every point counted at the Winterfest Invitational gymnastics meet Saturday as Columbia River edged Heritage for the team title, 163.3-163.2.

Shaylan Hawthorne was the star for River, winning the vault with a score of 9.3 and the floor exercise with a score of 9.65.

Britni Atwell and Nicole Moss shined for Heritage. Atwell won the all-around title with a score of 36.85, edging out Moss at 36.6. Hawthorne was third at 35.15.

Moss won the bars at 9.4 and River’s Haylee Castro took the beam at 9.3.
