La Center chooses Arizona man for police chief

Marc Denney has accepted an offer to become the chief of police in La Center, succeeding longtime Chief Tim Hopkin.
Denney was chosen from a nationwide field of more than 50 applicants for the position.
He was previously a commander with the Cochise County, Ariz. Sheriff's Office. He's a graduate of Wayland Baptist University and the 248th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
His employment depends on successful completion of a background check and that he secures an active police commission in Washington within six months of his effective employment date.
