Marc Denney has accepted an offer to become the chief of police in La Center, succeeding longtime Chief Tim Hopkin.

Denney was chosen from a nationwide field of more than 50 applicants for the position.

He was previously a commander with the Cochise County, Ariz. Sheriff’s Office. He’s a graduate of Wayland Baptist University and the 248th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.

His employment depends on successful completion of a background check and that he secures an active police commission in Washington within six months of his effective employment date.
