Nimley, Charleston Southern defeat Longwood 75-62

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) — Saah Nimley matched his season high with 21 points and also had eight rebounds and eight assists to lead Charleston Southern past Longwood 75-62 Saturday for the Buccaneers’ fourth straight win.

Leading 15-13, Charleston Southern (8-6, 3-0 Big South Conference) used a 10-0 spurt to pull away en route to a 40-28 halftime lead.

After the Buccaneers expanded their lead to 23, the Lancers (3-14, 0-3) closed out the game on a 12-2 run.

Charleston Southern scored 26 points off 20 Longwood turnovers and outscored the Lancers 38-22 in the paint. However, the Buccaneers, who came in ranked third nationally in 3-pointers made, were only 6 of 25 from long range.

Arlon Harper added 18 points, making 7 of 8 free throws, for Charleston Southern, which has won seven of its last eight games.

Nik Brown scored 18 and Tristan Carey added 16 for Longwood, which has lost seven straight.
