Smith, North Florida beat Kennesaw State 81-72

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Parker Smith made 8 of 12 3-pointers and finished with 32 points as North Florida beat Kennesaw State 81-72 Saturday in an Atlantic-Sun Conference game.

Travis Wallace scored 26 points and Beau Beech added 10 points and eight rebounds to help North Florida (8-11, 3-3) snap a two-game losing streak and win its seventh straight over Kennesaw State.

Trailing 38-32 at halftime, Kennesaw State (2-15, 1-4) opened the second half on a 21-17 run, and took the lead, 53-49 behind Markeith Cummings’ layup with 11:35 left to play.

North Florida answered when Wallace converted consecutive baskets, capping a 17-3 run to put the Ospreys back on top 66-56 with 6:06 remaining.

Kennesaw State never got closer than seven points the rest of the way as the Ospreys shot 57.1 percent (12 for 21) in the second half.

Cummings led the Owls with 28 points.
