Charleston rallies to beat The Citadel 73-69

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Andrew Lawrence scored 21 points and Adjehi Baru posted his third straight double-double to help College of Charleston rally and edge The Citadel 73-69 Monday in Southern Conference play.

Baru finished with 16 points and 12 boards, Anthony Stitt added 14 points and Anthony Thomas 10 for Charleston (12-5, 4-1), which trailed 34-31 at halftime after shooting 34.5 percent (10 of 29) in the first half.

The Citadel (3-12, 0-5) built a 57-50 lead midway through the second half before Stitt sandwiched two 3-pointers around two Lawrence free throws to give Charleston its first lead of the half, 58-57.

Teams battled to a 69-69 tie with 45 seconds remaining but Lawrence hit a jumper and two free throws to seal it.

Charleston shot 46.9 percent (15 of 32) in the second half and made six 3s in the frame.

Mike Groselle’s 19 points led The Citadel, losers of 11 straight.
