A team of Battle Ground School District counselors gathered at Chief Umtuch Middle School this morning to meet with grieving students who learned a classmate had died Saturday, district officials said.

Anna Ishikawa was in the eighth grade at the school.

This is the second time this school year that an eighth-grade student from the school has died. On Dec. 5, Isabelle Helen Sarkinen, 13, died at her home. The Battle Ground Police Department said Sarkinen’s death was a suicide.

Ishikawa’s cause of death is under investigation. The principal and assistant principal called faculty members and parents of the girl’s friends on Sunday.
