Joaquim hits 16 to lead Hawaii over Pacific 60-52

HONOLULU (AP) — Vander Joaquim scored 16 points to lead Hawaii over Pacific 60-52 Thursday night.

Joaquim was 7 of 14 from the field and had nine rebounds. The senior center also reached the 1,000th point of his career, entering the game needing just nine.

Ozren Pavlovic scored 13 points, and Hauns Brereton had 11 for Hawaii (10-7, 4-2 Big West). Issac Fotu had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Hawaii led 30-29 at halftime. Hawaii shot 37 percent from the field for the game, while Pacific shot 30.9 percent. Joaquim hit a jumper at 6:37 in the second half to give Hawaii a 47-45 lead. Hawaii remained in front the rest of the game.
