Letter: Gun control: a diversionary ploy

The Columbian
Published: January 16, 2013, 4:00pm

The Jan. 10 Columbian story, “Biden vows action on gun violence,” would perhaps be more comforting if this were not the same bunch who have yet to act on the embassy attack in Benghazi, or fully investigate the killing of a border agent with guns from Fast and Furious.”

Politicians would do well to insist on enforcing the laws on the books, instead of attempting to make points with the public, at the expense of innocent victims.

In my opinion, politicians should try a new, or renewed, practice called punishment. Any crime committed involving a weapon of any kind should be considered a capital crime.

To me, this whole gun thing is a ploy by Washington, D.C., types to keep the public focus away from the ridiculous activity on the spending and budget problems facing America.
