PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Timbers selected defender Dylan Tucker-Gagnes with the 34th overall pick in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Thursday.

The Timbers acquired the pick earlier in the day when the team traded forward Mike Fucito to the San Jose Earthquakes.

Tucker-Gagnes scored seven goals in 19 games as a senior last season for the Huskies, who went to the second round of the NCAA tournament. He started 13 games with the Timbers U23s during the 2011 Premier Development League season.

The 26-year-old Fucito, a four-year MLS veteran, came to the Timbers in a trade with the Montreal Impact last April, and made three starts in 12 games.

The Timbers had just one pick in Thursday’s draft, which was conducted in Indianapolis.
