NEW YORK (AP) — Carameaway led all the way Friday, beating Jerusalem Stone by one length in the $57,000 allowance feature for New York-bred 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct.
Jose Ortiz rode for trainer Mitchell Friedman as Carameaway recorded her second win in 10 starts. The time was 1:44.48 for the one mile, 70 yards.
Carameaway paid $7.10, $3.50 and $3 as the 5-2 favorite while Jerusalem Stone returned $4.90 and $3.50.
Frosty Bay paid $3.10 to show with Cornelio Velasquez riding in place of Ramon Dominguez, who went down in a spill in the previous race.
Dominguez is a finalist to win a third straight Eclipse Award as the nation’s leading rider when the winners are announced Saturday evening. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation when his mount Convocation stumbled and fell. Convocation bounced up, and did not appear seriously injured.
