Girls basketball: Union 56, Evergreen 36

Tessa Vanderpool scored nine of her 13 points in the fourth quarter as Union shutout Evergreen 20-0 in the final eight minutes to win.

Evergreen led 31-29 at halftime, but Union was able to tie the game 36-36 after three quarters.

Union went to zone defense to shut down Deja Nicholas, who scored 20 points for Evergreen.

Vanderpool made 5 of 5 free throws in the fourth quarter as Union pulled away. Jessica Chatman led Union with 15 points.
