Blackman, Savannah State top Florida A&M 57-55

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Preston Blackman hit a go-ahead jumper with 28 seconds remaining and Savannah State won a seesaw showdown with Florida A&M 57-55 Saturday night.

The Tigers (9-9, 3-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) trailed 47-39 with 11 minutes left, but led 53-49 after Rashad Hassan’s free throws with 3:35 left.

The Rattlers’ Reggie Lewis hit two free throws and Jamie Adams added a layup to square the score 53-53, then the Tigers’ Arnold Louis hit a layup for a 55-53 advantage with 2:22 left.

Trey Kellum tied it 55-55 with a layup with 44 seconds left, and then Blackman drained his jumper for the decisive, two-point edge.

Lewis missed a 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining.

Blackman paced the Tigers with 14 points and four assists. Louis added 11 points and eight rebounds and Hassan had 10 points and seven boards.

Adams led Florida A&M (4-14, 1-3) with 18 points.
