BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Robert Brown made a short jumper with 12.3 seconds left to lift Virginia Tech to a 66-65 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday.

Brown, who previously made one of his last 10 shots, had the ball with the shot clock winding down before driving into the lane for the score and getting fouled. He missed the free throw.

Wake Forest called a timeout with 8.8 seconds left to setup the final play. C.J. Harris missed a contested jumper in the lane and Tyler Cavanaugh missed the put back. Virginia Tech’s Jarell Eddie got the rebound as time expired.

Erick Green, the nation’s leading scorer at 24.8 points per game heading into the contest, scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half for the Hokies (11-6, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference). Eddie finished with 18 points.

Travis McKie had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Demon Deacons (9-8, 2-3).
