Central Arkansas defeats Texas A&M-CC 76-67

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Jarvis Garner scored 23 points to lead Central Arkansas to a 76-67 win over Texas A&M-CC Saturday, giving the Bears their first Southland Conference win of the season.

Garner also had six rebounds.

Robert Crawford scored 17 points and had six rebounds for the Bears (6-10, 1-5). LaQuentin Miles had 15 points, and Anthony Borden had six rebounds.

The Islanders (2-14, 1-5) led 34-24 at halftime. The Islanders shot 44.6 percent from the field for the game, while the Bears shot 41 percent. But the Islanders committed 12 turnovers, and the Bears converted them into 15 points.

The Bears took the lead for good with seven minutes to play when Crawford made a 3-pointer, putting the score at 55-53.

Joy Williamson led the Islanders with 15 points. Nate Maxey had 13 points, and Hameed Ali had 12. Will Nelson had 11 rebounds, and Johnathan Jordan had nine assists.
