Niagara takes down Manhattan 64-40

NIAGARA, N.Y. (AP) — Antoine Mason made 13 of 16 free throws and finished with 15 points for Niagara as it beat Manhattan 64-40 Saturday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.

Ameen Tanksley scored 13 points, Tahjere McCall added 12, and T.J. Cline chipped in 11 to help Niagara (11-8, 7-1) win its fourth straight game.

Trailing 41-32 early in the second half, Manhattan (5-13, 3-5) fought back with a 21-6 run, taking a 53-47 lead with 8:43 left to play.

Niagara answered, tying the game at 58 on Juan’ya Green’s jumper. Green then made three consecutive free throws to give the Purple Eagle a 61-58 lead with 1:20 remaining.

Manhattan got within one, 61-60, on Michael Alvarado’s layup with 48 seconds left, but Cline made a pair of free throws, and McCall added another to seal the victory for Niagara.

Mohamed Koita led the Jaspers with 13 points.
