CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Khalid Mutakabbir scored 24 points Saturday night to lead Presbyterian to its first Big South victory of the season, 68-60 over Liberty.
The Blue Hose (5-14, 1-4) broke a four-game losing streak. The Flames fell to 5-14, 1-4 in Big South Conference play.
Mutakabbir took command early. In the last 10:24 of the first half, he scored 19 of Presbyterian’s 24 points to give the Blue Hose a 31-25 lead at halftime.
That lead reached double-figures in the second half before Liberty cut it to five points with 1:18 left. But Presbyterian made 5 of 6 from the foul line down the stretch to clinch it, finishing 18 of 23 at the stripe. Liberty was 11 for 18.
