Radford holds on to beat Gardner-Webb 52-51

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — R.J. Price nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Radford held on to beat Gardner-Webb 52-51 Saturday night in Big South Conference play.

Javonte Green scored a game-high 13 points, Price added 12 and Ya Ya Anderson had 10 for Radford (9-10, 3-2)

Gardner-Webb (10-9, 2-3) shot a dismal 8.7 percent (2 of 23) in the first half and trailed at halftime 30-15.

Gardner-Webb used a 30-15 run in the second half, capped by Kevin Hartley’s 3-pointer, to tie the game at 45 with 1:26 left to play, then took the lead 48-45 on Max Landis’ 3-pointer with 29 seconds remaining.

Price then took over, scoring seven points in the final 21 seconds. After Tyler Strange’s free throw gave the Runnin’ Bulldogs a 51-49 lead with 5 seconds left, Price’s 3 at the buzzer gave the Highlanders the victory.

Donta Harper led Gardner-Webb with 11 points.
