NEW YORK (AP) — The Ortiz brothers dominated at Aqueduct on Sunday, riding the first seven winners on the card.

Apprentice Jose kicked off the day by winning the first three. Irad then reeled off four straight, including a 234-length score aboard Brigand in the $73,500 Turnofthecentury Stakes for New York breds.

The Ortiz brothers are 1-2 in jockey standings. Jose, 19, leads with 40 wins, seven more than his older brother.

“Today has been a good experience for me and my brother,” Irad Ortiz said. “We try in every race, and today we got good horses.”

Brigand, trained by Bob Baffert, paid $3.40, $2.10 and $2.10 as the 3-5 favorite. Mine Over Matter, $3 and $2.10, held onto second by head over Socialsaul who returned $2.50 to show.

The time for the mile was 1:36.70.
