A Hillsboro police officer is charged with attempted aggravated murder in a shooting at his Forest Grove home that wounded a Washington County sheriff’s deputy who had responded to a report of domestic violence.

Sheriff’s Sgt. David Thompson told KOIN the deputy was treated at Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center and released. His name has not been released.

The Hillsboro officer was identified as Timothy Cannon, 46, a 13-year veteran of the patrol division. He was off-duty Sunday night when the deputy and other officers responded to the report of a family fight.

Forest Grove police spokesman Mike Herb told KATU Cannon barricaded himself and exchanged gunfire with officers.

Cannon’s wife, who works for the Forest Grove Police Department, and 6-year-old daughter were not hurt.
