Although Vancouver did not record any freezing rain Wednesday morning, Washougal School District initiated an emergency early release due to the forecast of icy weather.

The National Weather Service has a freezing rain advisory in effect through 4 p.m., and dangerous driving conditions are the reason behind the emergency early release, according to the school district’s website.

Washougal and Excelsior High Schools are being released at 1:25 p.m. and Canyon Creek Middle School and Jemstegaard Middle School will both be released at 1:35 p.m. All after-school events, including the middle school basketball games and regularly scheduled athletic practices, are also canceled.
