Central Park — The Fisher House is a little closer to reality thanks to the efforts of the Columbia River Marine Corps League Auxiliary No. 398 and the Columbia River Marine Corps League Detachment No. 826, which raised $1,100. The house will provide temporary accommodations to veterans and active-duty service members' families, loved ones and caregivers during times of need. It will be built on the Vancouver campus of the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The money was raised through donations and a pancake breakfast at Applebee's in Hazel Dell.
