Taylor Drey scored 28 points and the visiting Thunder prevailed down the stretch to lock up the No. 2 seed to the Class 3A District 4 tournament.

A five-point burst midway through the fourth quarter put Mountain View (14-5, 7-2) up four. Fort Vancouver (9-10, 4-5) cut the margin to two points, but Akash Sanghera hit four important free throws to keep the Thunder in front.

The game did not impact Fort Vancouver’s playoff position — the Trappers are locked into playing in the third-fourth playoff game. But Fort coach Scott Thompson called it valuable experience for his team.

“That’s one of the best teams in our area and we took it down to the wire, so we are getting better,” Thompson said.

Drey was 11 for 26 from the floor, including 6 of 12 on 3-pointers, for his 28 points.

Luke DuChesne scored 14 points for Mountain View and Alex Torson had 10 points.Four players scored in double figures for Fort Vancouver. Tre Eisenhut had 17 points and Loris Hervey scored 13. Will Doty and Matt Delisle each scored 10 points, with Delisle adding five assists.
