EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) — Kenneth Ortiz’s steal and layup with 27.4 seconds left gave Wagner its winning margin in a 52-50 victory over Mount St. Mary’s in a Northeast Conference game Thursday night.

Ortiz had a chance to add to the lead on the next possession by the Seahawks (10-8, 4-3) but missed the front end of a one-and-one.

The Mountaineers (7-11, 2-5) lobbed an inbounds pass to Kristijan Krajina from near midcourt with 3.3 seconds left, but his shot missed at the buzzer.

Mount St. Mary’s led nearly the entire game and was ahead 43-35 after Rashad Whack’s jumper with 10:28 left.

Wagner tied the game and took a 50-48 lead with 2:39 to play on consecutive layups by Jonathon Williams, but Sam Prescott’s jumper for the Mountaineers tied it at the 1:03 mark.

Eric Fanning and Orlando Parker scored 12 points each to lead Wagner. Prescott’s 10 points led the Mountaineers.
