Simmons, Nebraska-Omaha down S. Dakota 95-90

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Justin Simmons scored 26 points, including five 3-pointers, to pace Nebraska-Omaha to a 95-90 victory over South Dakota on Thursday night.

Simmons scored 16 points in the second half to allow Nebraska-Omaha (6-16, 3-6 Summit) to turn away comeback attempts by South Dakota (8-13, 4-5).

Alex Welhouse and C.J. Carter each scored 17 points for Nebraska-Omaha. Welhouse hit four 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds. John Karhoff and Caleb Steffensmeier each scored 14 points.

Juevol Myles scored 26 points for South Dakota, including four 3-pointers. Brandon Bos scored 16 points, Steve Tecker scored 14 and Trevor Gruis scored 13. Tecker and Gruis each had nine rebounds and Bos had eight.
