MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Angelo Warner scored 24 points and Morehead State got superb foul-shooting to defeat Tennessee State 78-69 Saturday night.
The Eagles (11-11, 5-3 Ohio Valley) made 28 of 32 free throws (87.5 percent), including Warner’s 16 of 18. Tennessee State (12-10, 6-3) was 23 for 32 at the line but lost its third straight.
Tennessee State, leading 41-39 at halftime, got 19 points from Patrick Miller, who surpassed the 1,000 career points mark. He made 9 of 10 foul shots.
A 10-2 run early in the second half put Tennessee State up 51-49. But Morehead State finished the game on a 19-9 run to clinch it. In the final four minutes, the Tigers committed three turnovers and eight fouls while missing five straight shots.
