Morris’ 19 points lead Boston U over UMBC 81-75

BOSTON (AP) — Dom Morris scored 19 points to lead six Boston University players in double figures as the Terriers defeated Maryland-Baltimore County 81-75 Saturday for their third consecutive victory.

A 3-pointer by Maurice Watson Jr. started a 7-0 run that gave the Terriers (11-10, 5-3) a 71-63 lead with 2:04 remaining.

The Retrievers (4-16, 2-5) got back to within four, 75-71, on Ryan Cook’s 3-pointer with 20 seconds left, but two free throws by Watson 4 seconds later increased the margin to six.

UMBC led 25-15 with 7:09 until halftime, but Boston University scored the next 10 points, with Morris and John Papale getting two baskets each.

D.J. Irving scored 13 points, Papale and Nathan Dieudonne had 11 each, and Watson and Malik Thomas scored 10 each for the Terriers, who shot 51.7 percent (31 of 60).

Chase Plummer had 19 points and 11 rebounds for UMBC, and Cook added 15 points.
